This is a superb antique hand chased and engraved coin silver calling card case made by H.L. Webster & Company ca. 1855-1860.
It features outstanding detail including foliate, scrollwork and intricate engine turned designs. One side features an elaborate scrollwork cartouche engraved with a charming coastal scene including a lighthouse and a ship. The other side has an elegant reserve with an engraved Gothic initial.
The hinged lid is in excellent working order. The interior lip of the case has the impressed mark for H.L. Webster & Company of Providence, Rhode Island.
This exquisitely hand finished and engine turned silver card case measures 3 1/2 in /8.9 cm in height, 2 1/2 in./6.4 cm in width, and 1/4 in./6 mm in thickness. It weighs 1.8 oz./52 grams.
It is in excellent overall condition for its age. Three corners having slight bumps that are barely noticeable and do not detract from the beauty of this antique coin silver card case.
